Protecting Patients from Sexual Abuse and Misconduct
Introduced in November 2018,
Bill 21: An Act to Protect Patients was introduced to improve transparency and enforce penalties for regulatory complaints relating to sexual abuse and misconduct.
As a requirement of Bill 21, regulated health professionals must complete an annual trauma-informed training course. The "Protecting Patients from Sexual Abuse and Misconduct" course was designed by the Alberta Federation of Regulated Health Professions to fulfill this requirement.
The course consists of three modules:
- An introduction to Bill 21: An Act to Protect Patients
- Preventing sexual abuse and sexual misconduct
- When sexual abuse and sexual misconduct has occurred
In order to ensure course completion:
- Members should complete the course on a computer, not on a mobile device.
- Members should complete the course in one sitting. Progress will not be saved if you leave the test.
- Once you've completed the course, be sure to enter your name in the pop-up box. You will then be able to generate your certificate which will open in a new tab.
- Please email a PDF version of your personalized completion certificate to [email protected].
