Notice to Members
March 31, 2020, 4 p.m.
Dear Colleagues,
Here is our latest update:
- The ACAC will not make care decisions for members. Following the communications sent to members regarding limiting in-person care to urgent, critical or emergency care only, the ACAC continues to receive multiple calls and emails from both chiropractors and chiropractic office assistants with specific patient cases seeking approval to provide care. This is inappropriate and must stop.
The parameters for what constitutes urgent, critical or emergency care were clearly communicated. It is up to the professional experience and decision-making ability of the chiropractor to determine if the patient is eligible for in-person care based on the threshold set by the government. If you are unclear whether a patient meets that threshold, then you likely shouldn’t treat them in-person. Please review the update sent on Monday, March 30, for further clarification.
- Laser renewal will be postponed. At the request of the Radiation Health and Safety Program, laser renewal will be postponed to late summer. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
- Please read ACAC communications thoroughly before reaching out to the ACAC. The ACAC continues to field a high volume of calls from members, asking about topics that have already been communicated in emails sent directly to each member. We respectfully request that you review all written communications and the COVID-19 resources page before reaching out to the ACAC with your question. Answering calls regarding items that have already been communicated take away from our ability to respond in a timely fashion to other enquiries.
Warmest regards,
Dr. Todd Halowski
