Dear Colleagues,
Here is the latest update from the ACAC:
1. Clinics remain open for now: Some members have contacted the ACAC to ask if clinics are going to be directed to close. As we have not received direction from the Government of Alberta to close clinics, we are not mandating that at this time. We are sensitive that a directive to close clinics has both patient care impacts and financial ramifications for clinics. We are working to understand the Government’s direction and options available for clinic owners, and will communicate that information when available. Clinic owners may choose to temporarily close their clinics of their own volition.
2. Responsibilities for employers: We are seeking legal guidance on what clinic owners’ responsibilities are to employees, associates and independent contractors should clinics close or there be an exposure event. We will provide information via the website as it becomes available.
3. Government support for businesses: While the Government of Alberta has announced support is forthcoming, details are still being developed. The ACAC is monitoring this information closely and will add details to the website once available. Information about the Government of Canada’s loan program is available on the ACAC webpage under business resources.
This remains a fluid situation with changes happening daily. We will send another Notice to Members out tomorrow with updates. Please continue to check our website for the most up-to-date communications.
Finally, the ACAC is receiving a high volume of calls and emails, as can be expected. Please know we are doing our very best to respond in a timely manner. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Warmest regards,
