This directive provides mandatory guidance to ACAC regulated members regarding the Government of Alberta travel restrictions enacted on March 12, 2020.
Effective March 12, 2020, the Government of Alberta enacted travel restriction requirements that all Alberta travellers returning from outside of Canada must self-isolate for 14 days and monitor symptoms.
These restrictions apply to all travellers, regardless of location returning from, mode of transportation used, or possibility of COVID-19 exposure.
As a member of a regulated profession, you have an ethical and fiduciary responsibility to abide by the rule of law and directives issues by government.
Chiropractors must follow these travel restrictions and are responsible for the enforcement of these restrictions for anyone working in their clinic regardless of employment relationship. Any chiropractor who does not uphold this government-mandated travel restriction for themselves and/or anyone working in their clinic will be immediately referred to the Complaints Director for a section 65 order to immediately suspend their practice permit. These orders will be acted on swiftly. It will also result in a referral to a hearing, which may result in fines and other sanctions upon a finding of unprofessional conduct.
This directive is in effect until the restriction is lifted by the Government of Alberta.
Any questions regarding this directive should be referred to the Registrar, Todd Halowski.
